Our history

Tre Tallbarr is a small family business run by Jenny Kristersson Tärn and Björn Kristersson. Our journey began when we bought a regular shower gel that caused skin irritation and watery eyes. At the same time, we heard a radio program about soap making, which piqued our curiosity. We started investigating the contents of regular industrially produced soaps and realized the impact they can have on both us humans and our environment. That's when we decided – we will make our own natural soap!

A few years later, we now make handmade soap in the traditional way, with natural and organic ingredients. For us, it's not just about creating skin-friendly products, but also about contributing to a sustainable and environmentally friendly lifestyle.

The name Tre Tallbarr symbolizes our little family of three and our love for nature. The pine tree, which stands for strength and sustainability, has a special place in our hearts. Even though our Swedish pine tree, Pinus sylvestris, only has two compound needles, we chose three needles to represent us as a family. Did you know that the oldest pine tree found in Sweden was a whopping 757 years old? For us, it reminds us of the importance of caring for and preserving nature for future generations.

At the end of 2020, we swapped the hectic life in Skåne for the tranquility of the Småland countryside, where we now live in Ljushult just outside the small village of Vrå. This area has a special place in our hearts – it was where Björn’s grandfather grew up, and many childhood summers were spent here. When our daughter Elsa asked if we could move here, it felt natural. Here we found not only a haven from stress, but also a home with clean air, tranquility and enchanting nature.

In our old barn, probably from the 18th century, we now have a farm shop and a bistro café. When you step out the door you are greeted by the silence, the forest and the nearby lake. Deer, elk and fox are regular visitors, and during the summer you can hear the cranes in the distance. It is our little paradise – a place where we can live and work in harmony with nature.
